David A. Noyes Team Participates in Children’s Memorial Challenge for Hope

February 29, 2008—David A. Noyes & Company was delighted to participate in the Children’s Memorial Hospital 9th Annual Corporate Challenge for Hope. A five-person team and one special “patient champion” took part in a friendly competition of playground-inspired games, demonstrated their artistic skills with frog painting, tested their pop culture knowledge in game show trivia, and much, much more!

Team Noyes was paired with Sarah Panozzo, a special "patient champion" from the pediatric brain tumor clinic. The nine-year old has been afflicted with neurofibromatosis since she was six months old, a genetic disorder that causes tumors to grow along nerves. But with the help of Children’s Memorial caretakers and state-of-the-art medical treatments, including chemotherapy, Sarah’s tumors have been reduced, helping her live a relatively normal life.

“I liked it very much. It was a lot of fun, especially the obstacle course and painting the frog contest,” said Sarah of the Challenge for Hope Event. “I had the best team.”

In a very fortunate twist of fate, Mike Ochoa, a member of the David A. Noyes & Company team, found out upon arriving at the event that Sarah, who is related to him, would be participating. After some discussion, the Children’s Memorial event organizers arranged to have Sarah be our team “champion,” making it even more special for Mike, Sarah and all involved.

The David A. Noyes & Company team included a lively and energetic group from our M.B. Vick Fixed Income and Compliance Divisions:

  • Adam Long, Compliance Specialist

  • Scott Kornick, Fixed Income Trading

  • Norawena Mendiola, Trading Assistant

  • Mike Ochoa, Senior Vice President, Fixed Income

  • Peter Vick , Vice President & Branch Manager

Also in attendance for support (and a little bit of “help” on the trivia pursuit contest) was a large group from local David A. Noyes & Company offices, as well as Jim and Joanne Panozzo, Sarah’s parents.

Both participants and guests enjoyed cocktails, dinner, entertainment by the Libido Funk Circus, a great raffle, extensive silent and live auctions and the satisfaction of having helped make a difference in the life of a child.

Congratulations and well done to members of our team and guests for taking the time to help change the lives of afflicted children and contribute to a great cause.

And, of course, to Sarah, our “champion”… Thank you for making this event special and touching our lives with your amazing energy, beautiful smiles and contagious laughter.
